Alborz (also written Alburz, Elburz or Elborz), is a mountain range in northern Iran. Its borders start at Azerbaijan and Armenia in the northwest of Iran and reach to the southern end of the Caspian Sea. The mountain range ends in the east at the borders of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.

Shah Alborz (Persian: شاه البرز) is a mountain peak in Alborz range in Iran. At an elevation of 4,200 metres (13,800 ft), it is the highest peak in the range. Its north face rises from the Alamout valley. To the south lies the Taleghan Valley and to the west the plains of east-Ghazvin.

Situated northwest of Tehran, the Province of Alborz has 6 counties, Karaj, Fardis, Savojbolagh, Eshtehard, Taleghan, and Nazarabad. Karaj is the seat of the province. It is 35 km west of Tehran, at the foothills of the Alborz mountains, and is Iran's smallest province.
